California "Cool": Outfitting for San Francisco
Many folks associate California with sun and surf, but San Francisco possesses a different kind of California cool. Although it's only March, I'm certainly beginning to understand Mark Twain's ever popular quote "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" -- chilly bay breezes paired with strong golden rays means the ultimate chance to mix n' match. So how does a girl outfit herself in cool temps and sunny rays?
For those of us accustomed to four distinct seasons, here was my chance to break the rules. For a casual, California feel, try a nautical inspired dress, like my striped panel dress from J.Crew (retail $138, sale price: $50). To keep the chilliness at bay, try juxtapositioning the beachside feel with a soft bomber like the faux-leather jacket from H&M (retail $60). And for a little of both worlds, sandals from Dolce Vita for that cosmopolitan feel. As always, there's nothing more fashionable than protecting those peepers with a cool pair of shades.
